SLT Slashes Down ADSL Rentals, Adds New Packages

I posted sometime back about SLT ADSL packages for low rates, and now it seems that they have reduced charges for all SLT ADSL packages.

Now the Entrée package is Rs.500 (+VAT) which was Rs.1,000 (+VAT), and the Home package is Rs.1,600 (+VAT) from the early Rs.2,250 (+VAT). Both these packages have 128kbps upload speed and 512kbps download speed with dynamic IP, while the Entrée package has a monthly usage limit of 1024MB/1GB.

SLT has also added some new packages. The Xcite package which has 256kbps upload and 1024kbps download speeds with dynamic IP is priced at a montly rental of Rs.2,900 (+VAT). They have also added Office, Office 1IP (512k Up / 2048k Down) and Xcel, Xcel 1IP (512k Up / 4096k Down) packages, in which 1IP packages have an additional Static IP with DNS Hosting, Virtual Mail Service and Web Hosting.

Anyway I’m happy with my Home package with its reduced rental rate. Just checkout the SLT website for more details….!

Special SLT Broadband ADSL Package at Deyata Kirula Exhibition

SLT might be announcing a new Special Broadband ADSL Package at the Deyata Kirula Exhibition which is now opened for public at BMICH, Colombo.

The leaflets in Tamil and Sinhala leaked from some internal sources show some details about these new “reduced charge” packages. But when I tried to get a confirmation from SLT they denied any such offer being given out. May be they will announce it in a day or two. So just check with them…!

Also I’m not gonna get any advantage out of this as this is only for the new connections purchased at the exhibition. So can I just disconnect the present one and get a new connection…?!!

WebSVN – Web-based Subversion Browser

I am working on my final year project (Project eID) these days, and I had to setup the SVN repository at our domain, and that worked fine, thanks to Dreamhost One-Click Subversion installation. But then I looked out for a web based Subversion repository browser so things could look a little more nicer and found WebSVN. is the easiest among other similar ones interms of ease of install and features.

WebSVN is a web based Subversion browser written in the PHP programming language. It took less than 10 minutes to install. WebSVN supports templates, so I might want to port it to our own design if time permits.

I just installed it and I'll have to play around a little more with it to get a better picture on it, but as of now I like it and suggest it.

Just check out my installation at

Record Skype Calls with CallGraph

Have you ever wondered how to record a Skype call? You might want to record a Skype call to do a podcast, just for fun, or for some other reason. I stated searching on this topic months back and found many Skype plugins that could record calls. But I was satisfied with none of those as the were non-complete or commercial and not free. Many other popular Skype recording applications like Pamela let us record only up to 15 minutes for free.

Then only I found CallGraph, which is a free call recording application for Skype, developed by a Bangalore based start-up Sedna Wireless. Call Graph can be used to record Skype calls (Skype to Skype, SkypeIn, SkypeOut, Conference calls) in a mp3 file, and we can manage, search, order, filter the call records easily.

CallGraph also offers a web service called CRIMS (Call Record Indexing and Management Service) for online storage, sharing, search and transcription of the call records.

[Update: March 2011]

CallGraph is now called scribie, but they still offer the same products and services, specially the free CallGraph Skype Recorder for Windows.
